Trip Overview

Overview

This peak is situated north of Kathmandu in the Langtang area. This is an easy peak to climb and suited for anyone with trekking experience. We start in Syabrubesi after a 5-hour drive from Kathmandu and spend five days hiking up the beautiful Langtang valley to Kyanjin Gompa at 3800 m. Kyanjin Gompa is situated below Langtang Lirung (7246 m) and we spend three days acclimatizing taking day-hikes in spectacular surroundings. We establish base camp on a meadow at 4800 m and climb Yala Peak the next day. The last 400 m is on ice so we will be using crampons, ice axe and rope. From the summit, we can see Shishapangma (8046 m) and the fluted Gangchempo (6388 m).

Yala Peak Climbing in the Langtang valley area is non-technical, easy and less difficult. Yala Peak is ideal for beginners who want to try peak climbing. There is no requirement for previous experience, but a reasonable fitness standard is a must for climbing. You can see spectacular views of the famous snow-covered mountains from the top of Yala Hill, Langtang Lirung 7246 m. Gangchempo 6387 m., Dorje Lakpa 6990 m and Naya Kanga Hill 5844 m., Shishapangma 8027 m.

Highlights of Yala Peak Climbing

  • Day tour of cultural heritage sites of Kathmandu valley
  • Scenic drive to Dhunche or Syabru Bensi
  • Meet the locals and herds on the trek
  • Stunning landscapes and glorious views of the Himalayas of Langtang region
  • Summit of Yala Peak
  • Visit the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa

The route to Yala Peak Climbing

From Syabrubesi-after a 7-8 hour drive from the Kathmandu Valley we continue our walks from the starting point. Cross the thick Rhododendron, Oaks, and Pines forest through the hotel The Lama. The hotel is a local ethnic group. The 3800 m altitude Kyanjin Gompa is the first location before the Yala Base Camp to become acclimatized. Our camp and planning to reach the summit can be planned easily.

The Yala Peak is the highlight of our itinerary, comfortably acclimatized and completely fitted, accompanied by our seasoned climbing experts. Until we reach the summit of Yala Peak, we can have a wonderful view of Langtang Valey and the vantage point for Shishapangma 8046 m on a Tibetan side: 7245 m, Dorje Lakpa 6990 m, Pemthang Karpo 6830 m and Gangchenpo 6387 m.

At the summit, we spend a brief time and descend along the same path. A panoramic drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu concludes the adventurous journey of the Yala Peak Climbing with Himalayan Social Journey

Frequently Asked Questions

The best time for climbing is during the months of April, May, September, and October in November. The temperature is favorable during these months. The night is less windy and the days sunny. The weather is not very cold as in winter and no big plumes as in Monsoon.

Extra time:

It is easier to add extra time while preparing your journey to Peak Climbing. The climatic conditions in the mountains you will never know about. Your flights could be delayed or canceled due to bad weather. Also, you may have to rest a few days at lower altitudes when you suffer from high altitude sickness.

Schedule for Acclimatization

It will be difficult to reach an altitude above 6000 m, so the right amount of acclimatization is important. Air-conditioning is performed to allow the body to respond strongly to the surroundings. Before you climb up, you need to give your body proper rest.

Adequate preparation

Before you begin this journey, your mind and body should be well prepared. A great deal of energy is required as the steep paths are ascending. The last steep ascent through the headwall is the most exciting part. You can conquer them by preparing properly.

Verify your equipment

In guaranteeing your health, gear plays a key part. To hit the top, you will need numerous mountain gears and kits. You can rent in Kathmandu or at the Chukhung, but it can be average. You must also properly test your equipment such as they don't break on storm and snowfall.

Research on weather, risks, and also check on some surviving tactics and techniques in extreme conditions.

You will be trekking for 5-7 hours a day depending upon the landscape and destination.

You need physical and technical training before you start your journey. A mountaineer should be well aware of the entire journey.

On this climb, you bring the mountain equipment like ropes, crampons, harness, etc. These gears are critical for fast and safe climbing.

You will camp to adapt to the camping life and, if possible, to use the facilities. This helps to increase the understanding of how to deal with them.

You should do some physical activity before climbing. For example, walking, swimming, cycling, etc.

You reach the summit without hesitation with proper preparation and acclimatization schedules.

Travel insurance & rescue when traveling to a remote destination like Nepal is strongly advised. It should provide adequate protection for the full duration of the tour. Your insurance policy must cover all the activities that you will be undertaking during your stay in Nepal such as helicopter rescue, cancellation, air ambulance, injury, death, lost baggage, theft, liability, medical treatment, and cover repatriation and personal expenses. If a client becomes ill, all hospital expenses, doctors’ fees, and repatriation costs are the client’s responsibility. For the reliable travel insurance, we have the suggestion of some of the best insurance companies: Cover more or Europe assistance or Travel Direct- TID. We have an agreement with the Helicopter Company to do the payment of Helicopter evacuation after we collect the payment with you once you have been rescued. And the reimbursement responsibility from your insurance company will go up to you. Be sure your policy specifically covers helicopter evacuation and does not exclude mountaineering or alpinism.

The insurance of the guide and porter is covered by the company. All our guides and porters are properly insured.

Your baggage ought not be in excess of 20 kg and will be carried by the porters. Porters and Yaks will just go with us until they leave our gear with us at the base camp and leave us for a couple of days during the climbing time frame. You will be liable for your own gear during the ascension. Travelers will bring a backpack or duffel bag to carry water, cameras, bathroom tissue and comfortable garments, and climbing gears. During the ascension, climbers must carry their own gears and are suggested to keep any unnecessary or access stuff at your lodgings, and you can get it back after the journey.

You need to train your body and brace yourself for 8-10 hours a day in all weather conditions, to walk on a rugged terrain of 8-20 km. You're going to walk both below and above the average altitude of Nepal. Trekking under the hot sun and the chilly cold nights is also likely.

Training makes the journey less complicated, safer and more pleasant. So before you go on a trekking experience, you need to spend longer and more effort training. The best way is to get to the top stairs that take one or two minutes. Till you puff, you can do 10 sets. By putting on a backpack from 5 Kg to 20 Kg, you can add strength. Your heart and lungs will become healthy by doing so. One thing you have to remember is that before you start the training program you still have to warm up and stretch. Cycling running, jogging or hill climbing may be another aerobic exercise. Or you can choose any exercise in the aerobic range (70% of your maximum heart rate). Aerobic activity protects the heart and reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. It also strengthens your lungs. It enhances breathing, endocrine, muscle tones, and strengthens bones.

On the trek, we'll be staying at simple lodges run by Nepali families. During the trek, the bathrooms are outside the rooms and hot water is dependent on solar panels so don't count on many warm showers.

Most teahouses (lodges) in Everest region trails cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian fare. Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, daal Bhat (rice and lentils), bread, soup, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season), and even some desserts like apple pies, pancakes, and some interesting attempts at custard. You will find a lot of garlic on the menu because it assists with acclimatization – eat some every day. In many villages, you may find some meat items on the menu. You can always get hot chocolate, tea, and hot lemon drinks, as well as soft drinks, and treats like chocolate and crisps.

During the camping season, our catering staff prepares hygienic food to serve you when on Base Camp and High Camp.

Yes, All required Climbing gears, tents, plastic climbing boot, crampons, climbing rope, ice- axe, zoomer, harness, the figure of eight, carabineer etc will be provided by the company which you would have to return back at the end of the trip.

"Best way to experience Nepal"

We did the 14 days Nepal budget tour and we could not be more happy with our choice. In only 2 weeks we visited Kathmandu, Chitwan national park, Pokhara and did a 5 day trek in the Annapurna region. The organization was flawless (like a swiss clock). We felt safe and welcomed in every place. Our guides Harka (Chitwan) and Ganesh (Pokhara and trek) + Bishal (our porter) did an outstanding job. We recommend them and the whole trip 100%. It was much better than we could have imagined. In the end, we recommand everyone to visit the beautiful places from Nepal and meet its warm and welcoming people.
